Can't foster? Help by collecting items that we need: Gerber baby food (chicken, beef or turkey) in the jar, rice cereal, kitten baby bottles, KMR, cat toys, litter scoops and scratching boards. We’re seeing a LOT of underage kittens and the baby food helps our foster families get the kittens eating solid food.
Also, needed...small kitchen digital scales to weigh kittens in their foster homes. Click here for an example.

The goal of Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League's Foster Program is to help as many animals as possible by providing temporary homes for them. Some animals are underage, pregnant or nursing, sick, injured, under socialized, or animals that do not shelter well. Sometimes we simply do not have enough space to house them. Because of our dedicated Foster Parents, we are able to help hundreds of animals who need extra care or special attention.
What is a Foster Parent?
A Foster Parent provides a temporary home for dogs and/ or cats until they are ready for adoption. Fostering an animal requires a more significant commitment than volunteering at the shelter.
How long can I be a Foster Parent?
Fostering can last anywhere from a few days to a few months, depending on the needs of the animal. We always have a need for foster homes throughout the year.
What costs will I be responsible for?
Peggy Adams Animal Rescue league will provide you with all of the supplies you will need to care for the foster animal. This includes medications, follow-up veterinary visits, food, littering, bedding, bowls, crates, collars and leashes. Foster Parents are responsible for transportation to and from the shelter for check-ups and medical care.
What requirements are we looking for?
Foster Parents must be at least 18 years old or have an adult in the household who will be the primary caregiver. Caregivers must be able to separate the foster animal(s) from their own animal(s) for 14 days since many foster pets have limited immunity. All dogs must be kept on a leash or supervised in an enclosed area when outside. Cats and kittens must be kept inside at all times.
Do you offer student community service hours for fostering? Yes!
How do I become a Foster Parent?
Complete the Foster Parent Application Click here and fax it to us at 561-686-0940 or fill out our Online Foster Application. You can also drop it off to the shelter Mon-Sat from 9am-6pm or Sunday from 10am-6pm. You will then receive a personal interview with our Foster Program Coordinator which includes a foster orientation.
